Cosmic Kids Readings

“Elders will ask the unborn child, ‘Who are you? Why are you coming here?…What can we do to ease your journey?’…After the birth, the elders make sure they surround the child with things that will help her remember and accomplish the purpose she has described.”

— Sobonfu Somé, The Spirit of Intimacy: Ancient African Teachings in the Ways of Relationships

The Dagara people of Burkina Faso—like many other indigenous and African communities—believed that each person is born with a purpose and the “genius,” or gifts, they need to fulfill it. But they also believed that “it is not enough to be born into this world loaded with such a beauty.” In The Healing Wisdom of Africa, Dagara shaman Malidoma Somé says that “genius must be [awakened] and invited out of a person,” helping their minds “remember” what their soul’s already know.

The “hearing ritual,” described above by Dagara philosopher Sobonfu Somé, shows how community elders sought to understand each child’s purpose and what they could do to help fulfill it before the baby is even born. It also shows how getting guidance from the Spirit realm was always step one.

Cosmic Kids Readings are inspired by such practices. Once your child is born, I will consult their natal chart—which serves as “a celestial blueprint” that “holds the keys to living a life of purpose” (Chani Nichols, You Were Born for This: Astrology for Radical Self-Acceptance)—for:

  • Personalized insights on their inherent strengths and unique developmental needs

  • An assessment of the archetypal energies that are most prevalent and pertinent to their life’s journey.

  • Practical tools and strategies that can be implemented by trusted adults in your child’s “village” to recognize and awaken them to their life’s purpose, and, as Elder Malidoma said, “to facilitate the delivery of the genius to the community.”

“The newborn must be assisted in giving birth to the genius he is born with…The community that is able to receive the person’s genius gives birth to the adult who is able to contribute [their] healing gifts to that community.” - Malidoma Somé

This service is for parents and caregivers with children under the age of 18. Note that this is neither fortune telling nor a “career reading for kids,” but wholistic insight on the specific kind of support they need to bring forth their best selves.

NOTE:Birth date, time + location are required for all astrological readings.
