Creating Kid-Friendly Communities with Gemini & 3rd House Energy

Someone in my sister’s neighborhood had the brilliant idea of placing a bunch of letter and number magnets on a random light pole on a random sidewalk, and honestly God bless. Give them the super smart person of the year award because this is so simple but it’s honestly public education at its finest. Such a low-effort, high-reward way to make learning tools and resources available for all! 

In astrological terms, this is the kind of 3rd house, Gemini thinking that can turn your community into a giant classroom. Or, actually, 3rd house or Gemini energy shows us that our neighborhoods and local environments are inherently classrooms—constantly teaching us about the world and other people and ourselves—and that we can use our creative intelligence to enhance and be more intentional about those classroom offerings.

The 3rd house represents our thought processes and learning abilities, the immediate surroundings and relationships that shape or influence our worldview (like neighbors and community dynamics or community infrastructure), short distance travel (like the view of the world that get from riding the bus or on our bikes), and early childhood education as well. 

Gemini—the original ruler of the 3rd house—understands that education and learning don’t just happen in a formal settings, and that you don’t need a bunch of money, permits or permission slips to make educational resources accessible to all. And that Gemini energy also understands that learning should be fun! And part of or integrated into our everyday lives! 

Gemini and 3rd house energy can teach us a lot about creating kid-friendly neighborhoods.
