Scorpios vs. 8th Housers (According to an 8th House Leo Venus)
Let me tell you what it's like to have Leo or solar energy in the eighth house of your birth chart. Imagine all the bright, brilliant light of the sun being submerged under a swamp. It's like putting the brightest, happiest energy on earth in the most raggedy, dingy, musty, muddiest place this planet has to offer. I'm trying to use less monarchial language in my everyday life.
But it's convenient, so whatever. Having Venus and Leo gives princess energy. But baby, if it's placed in the eighth house, it's giving swamp princess for real. In no shade. It's Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.
It's Aaliyah in that vampire movie she did.
It's Trap Queen in the Bando.
The eighth house is a Scorpio house. Regardless of what sign or planet you may have there, it is inherently surrounded by Scorpio energy. Or to be more precise, the energy of Pluto, which defines and characterizes Scorpio energy along with Mars. Again, regardless of what sign or planet you have there, the eighth house is an inherently Martian or Plutonian environment. And baby,
Both of those energies are considered malefics.
I like to think of the houses in astrology as the environments and external circumstances we find ourselves in. And no shade, but the eighth house is a swamp. It is a back alley, gutter, den of iniquity. It's the underworld, let mythology tell it. It's where Medusa gets her hair turned into snakes.
It's where Persephone is taken after Hades kidnaps her. It's the harrowing journey that Isis goes on after Osiris gets murked.
Again, in my view, the houses say less about who we are internally or as a person and more so represent the environments and external circumstances or situations we constantly seem surrounded by. The houses show what kind of energy we get faced with more so than the energy we exude.
So regardless of what planet or sign you might have in the eighth house, either by permanent natal chart placement or temporarily by transit, you're going to get thrown into some eighth house environments and be faced with some eighth house experiences and situations. Which is to say, some back alley, gutter, Medusa, Persephone, ISIS type places and people and experiences.
And while that may sound terrible and terrifying to some, to most, to all maybe, I cannot even hold you. Having my Venus in Leo in the eighth house is probably one of my favorite placements in my birth chart. This is a very biased statement, but I think it's one of the best eighth house scenarios you can have. If you're gonna have an eighth house placement, I wanna be the swamp princess. I do.
But also because it's such an uncanny experience or combination of energies. Like it feels so wrong, but it's just so right. It's like, yes, this is the swamp. And there is all types of bottom feeder activity going on. But baby, I love it here. I come alive in the nighttime. The freaks come out at night. And yes, these are the freakiest motherfuckers you've ever met, but I think they're beautiful.
them all the same. I love me some them. Okay. That's what it's like having Leo Venus in the eighth house. Now don't get me wrong now. It is not glamorous. But as hard as is, as hard as it is, it's just as exhilarating.
Because at the end of the day, being in the eighth house does mean being in some dark places around some very toxic situations. And it can feel like folks are out to get you. But also at the end of the end of the day, you're literally the sun if you're bringing Leo energy there. And who's gonna extinguish the sun for real? This little light of mine is going to shine, baby. And it's actually quite a very big light, so.
It may get cloudy and overcast, but the sun still shines. And it rises again and again and again every gosh doggone day. And honestly, at its highest and most integrated, it kind of makes you uncheckable. It makes you good in any hood because I don't care where you go in this world, everyone loves and is attracted to the sun.
In some way, shape, form, or fashion, even if it's just a little bit, okay? Who gonna front on the sun? Even the underworld girlies, okay? Well, except for the ones who haven't made peace with their eighth house or Scorpio or Plutonian energy and struggle to see the beauty in themselves.
And in their lives, or the ones who abuse and exploit that energy to prey on people. they're gonna hate you, Leo Venus. They those folks are going to hate you. And that's honestly fine. It's what we're meant to do as an eighth house Leo Venus. Bring love and light to the places and people that others in society think don't deserve it, or have been written off as bad, or as too tabooed to be in polite.
Society. We show that everyone is lovable and worthy of human dignity, but we also bring that disinfecting light to the dirty dirt that folks got going on behind the scenes in the eighth house and can diminish people's dignity or their own, which needs to be exposed.
And if not expelled, transmuted. Needs to be transmuted. And again, that Leo energy, that Leo Venus energy can protect you in the process. Especially if you're a mature, experienced, integrated Leo Venus who is not new to this. Despite how innocent you may look. Because babe, you are the son. Especially if you know you're the sun, who gonna check you?
To further underscore the distinction between Scorpios and people with prominent eighth house placements, I found the perfect example while I was watching the Addams Family Values movie recently. In it, we see Cousin It, whose strange, odd taboo appearance would make him the Scorpio, while his ultra-normy wife would be the 8th Houser.
She does not exude that Adams family Scorpio energy herself, but she is drawn to it, honey. And she is very much happy to be tangled up in that web. Same for Christina Ritchie's Wednesday Addams. She would be the Scorpio figure, while her little boyfriend would be the eighth houser. He's not into dressing like a vampire or goth or whatever Wednesday got going on, but he proudly dates the girl who is.
And what about it? He said, and what about it? I sure do. That's bae. And it's and having benefic placements in the eighth house can make the kind of person who delights in spooky Scorpio energy, even if they don't embody it themselves. If Scorpios are of the underworld, eighth houses are just in it. And if it's Venus or Jupiter or the Sun in your eighth house,
You probably don't haaaate being there.
