Protecting Taurus Kids from Consumerism
Sometimes the astrology is just too on the nose. Because why is my three-year-old Taurus Rising nibling obsessed with “The Price is Right”?
I know a lot of kids can get into daytime television or whatever their caregivers are watching at a given time, but it just makes so much sense for it to resonate so hard with a Taurus Rising kid, because it's such a Taurean show.
Capricorns get called the biggest capitalist of the zodiac, and all Earth signs in their shadows can be some variation of Scrooge McDuck, but Taurus is now and will forever be the consummate consumer of the Earth Sign crew. The Taurus archetype is all about livelihood, assets, creature comforts, material resources, and in particular, their value.
And with that Venus energy coursing through Taurus's veins, they can be the ultimate procurer of material products or purveyors of fine goods and wares. Now, of course, many different factors in the birth chart can change or alter the expression of pure archetypal Taurus energy. But in general, it is the archetype of good taste.
On a base material level, Tauruses know quality goods and when something is worth exchanging resources for. So a show where you win money and luxury items for knowing their costs can easily catch a Taurus's attention. Even a Taurus kid who's three!
This is what I mean when I say young kids who haven't been too conditioned yet are, like, the purest versions of their Rising and Moon sign energetic archetypes, especially. They just know who they are and what they're about without even knowing that they know, and just naturally find a way to connect with or gravitate toward those themes.
But to be clear, I am not suggesting that Taurus and the Earth Sign's inherent interest in capitalism and consumer goods means that there's anything natural or intrinsic about capitalism itself or consumerism. There isn't anything natural about capitalism. And it's usually some part of the Earth sign journey or lesson in this lifetime to learn how to refrain from indulgence, maybe even to dismantle the systems that enable and encourage indulgence.
So not all Tauruses or Earth signs are your capitalist queens. It's just that their energy is archetypically focused on accessing the material resources we need to secure our physical well-being. So if capitalism is the system or means we have to go through to access them, then that's what will be a focus in some way. Especially when it comes in such fun propaganda like little game shows.
If we were in a different place and time, then that same interest or passion for accessing material resources would be channeled toward the barter system, or towards a game show that glorifies the equitable distribution of resources or whatever. For Earth signs, the focus is very systemic, structural, and environmental. They are external creatures. They are going to deal with the world as it is. For better or worse, whether it's getting with it or fighting against it, that is gonna be some thematic focus in their lives.
So I'm in no way condemning any Taurus or Earth sign kid for walking around talking about a new. I'm just saying they're highly attuned to the material world. And I see it as a sort of karmic call to action for the adults in their lives to show them that it's not about hoarding up all the flashiest, flexiest items, but learning to value things for their true worth, which is holistic and not just what serves your physical and external needs, but what serves your internal needs as well.
For kids, it's about defining and making sure they know what their true values are, and for their caregivers to model to them what it means to embody that and to basically put your money where your mouth is. Your purchases should be a reflection of what you believe and value—conceptually, internally, spiritually.
Even as adults, before buying anything, a Taurus needs to ask themselves:
What does this purchase say or reflect about my internal values?
How does it help uplift and inspire and encourage me to live according to my values or facilitate my doing so?
How much peace and stability does that material item bring my spirit? Or does it just serve and soothe my ego?
In what ways does having it help me meet my needs and support my life's purpose, within the context of community?
Those internally, spiritually defined values are what drives the Earth signs’s material choices. And it's on the Earth signs to make sure they're conscious about gathering up resources that help them meet their highest spiritual good rather than ones that strictly serve their egos or their senses. That's the lesson a lot of Taurus and Earth sign kids—and adults—will be learning in this lifetime and a lesson that we, their communities and caretakers must support them on.
I think one way to support Earth sign Kids and their holistic development is to expose them—and even Aquarius kids—to different systems of value and exchange and resource management so they can explore and engage that inherent area of interest in expansive and more equitable ways that go beyond the limitations of the capitalist framework.
Encourage them to use their imagination: “How else can we gain and exchange resources?” You'll be surprised. Kids are often geniuses when they tap into their imagination.
But yeah, if you ever see a kid with lots of Taurus placements get really transfixed with the price is right, that's probably why. It deals with money, resources, and value and it also has lots of colors and spinning wheels and other things that little kids love.
